COMPLETE REPORT SECTION 2: Capsule Review Honda Accord EX (Manual) Completely made over for 2003, the Accord coupe shares no sheetmetal with the Accord sedan and presents a distinctly sportier appearance. It’s also sportier on the road, with firmer suspension tuning and a six-speed manual transmission available with V-6 models. The base engine is a 160-hp, 2.4-liter DOHC 16-valve aluminum four, with i-VTEC variable valve timing. A five-speed manual transmission is standard, and a five-speed automatic is optional. The upgrade engine is a 3.0-liter SOHC 24-valve aluminum Honda Accord EX (Manual)V-6 making a whopping 240 hp. The front suspension is a control-arm setup, and the rear suspension is a multilink system bolted to a stiff subframe. Changes for 2004 are minimal, with XM satellite radio becoming standard on some EX models and side airbags becoming available as an EX option. And there are two new exterior colors. … 2006 Honda Accord EX V-6 First Place, Mid-Size Four-Door Sedans December 2005 The tweaked-up Accord for 2006 does what Accords always do—charm us with eager responses and superb control on the road. What we didn’t expect was the newly developed muscle, as in muscle car. First, the tweaks. The styling has been freshened with a new grille and bumper in front and a profoundly different look in back as the taillights, instead of spreading onto the decklid, now occupy the upper corners of the rear fenders, much as they do on Accord coupes. The center stoplight is carved most tidily into the top edge of the decklid. When the brakes are on, the Accord’s tail glows red with LEDs, the latest fashion in rear lighting. As face lifts go, this one is a resounding success. Daylight running lights are now standard equipment, as is a stability-control system on V-6 models. Honda claims a mild 4-hp increase in engine output, to 244 at 6250 rpm. We’ve never thought the Accord was underpowered; Honda apparently thought otherwise. The 2006 Accord ripped through the acceleration test to 60 mph in 6.6 seconds, a tie with the Sonata, then strongly broke to the front to clear the quarter-mile in 15.1 seconds at 95 mph. For the record, the old Accord needed 7.0 seconds to hit 60 and was 3 mph slower in the quarter. In other categories of athletics, the Accord was always in the top half of the class—second best in stopping distance, tied for second best with the Hyundai in roadholding—and was the top performer in the emergency-lane-change test.

TOOLS AND SUPPLIES REQUIRED 10 mm and 12 mm Combination wrenches 17 mm and 19 mm Sockets Ratchet Torque wrench KTC trim tool set (SOJATP2014) Floor jack INSTALLATION NOTE: •Inflate the tires to the specified air pressure. •The dampers for the left and right sides are different. The damper marked R goes on the right side; the damper marked L goes on the left side. •These dampers are designed to be used exclusively with this model and should not be used with other models. •These instructions show the left damper assembly being installed; the same procedure applies to installing the right damper assembly. With the vehicle on a rack, remove all four wheels. 2. Remove the wheel sensor harness clip and the brake hose bracket from the damper. Do not disconnect the wheel sensor connector. 3. Remove the damper pinch bolts and self-locking nuts from the damper. Do not allow the knuckle to rotate too far outward. This may allow the inner CV joint bearing to unseat. WHEEL SENSOR HARNESS BRAKE HOSE BRACKET…. 37. Raise the rear suspension with the floor jack to load the vehicle weight. 38. Torque the trailing arm bolts to 108 N·m (79.6 lb-ft). 39. Torque the flange bolt to 59 N·m (79.6 lb-ft). 40. Torque the damper flange bolt to 59 N·m (43 lb-ft). 41. Torque the stabilizer link to 39 N·m (29 lb-ft). 42. Repeat steps 17 thru 41 to install the right damper and spring. 43. Reinstall the trunk side trim panel. 44. Install the brake hose mounting bracket and torque to 22 N·m (16 lb-ft). Reinstall the wheel sensor, and torque the bolt to 9.8 N·m (7.2 lb-ft). 45. Reinstall the wheels, and torque the wheel nuts to 108 N·m (80 lb-ft). Honda CR-V Road Test
Honda claims the cabin of the CRV now contains more than 20 storage bins to accommodate items of various sizes. Rear cargo volume has been significantly increased. The CRV’s controls are particularly well laid out and as a result are very easy to use. A new handbrake lever is cleverly disguised as part of the dash and works well. Vision to the front and sides is good, although the centre rear head restraint does obstruct the driver’s view to the rear. The CRV still uses a swing-out rear door with the added feature of a swing-up glass hatch. While a gas strut attached to the door allows easy opening and closing of the door (on which the spare wheel is mounted), considerable space behind the vehicle is needed to fully open it. The new CRV is a very pleasant vehicle to drive. The clutch pedal is light to operate with good feel and the manual gearshift has a positive action and quite a short throw. The big news, however, is that the new engine offers a whole new level of performance.
The 2.4 litre i-VTEC is particulary responsive right throughout the rev range and smooth in its operation. Unfortunately there is a certain mount of torque steer evident under hard acceleration. The suspension provides quite a compliant ride, the handling is reasonably sharp and the steering is nicely weighted. Four wheel disc brakes provide adequate stopping power, although ABS (standard on CRV Sport) would further improve emergency stops. SUMMARY: The 2002 CRV is an all-new vehicle that has undergone a number of changes to further improve upon the original model. Visually, the CRV features a new body structure that offers improved passenger safety and more interior space. Under the bonnet there is a new 2.4 litre i-VTEC engine that produces more power and offers impressive performance. Overall, the new CRV is a more refined vehicle that offers terrific versatility.

Holding a bracket in place as shown on the driver's side hood, mark the center of the lower hole using a permanent marker. You may need a friend to hold up the hood higher than the stock prop rod allows to gain access. The ball-stud should face outward or away from vehicle - bottom edge will contact the hood's hinge bracket, and the back of the bracket should rest against the hood's understructure lip as shown to the right.
