ROAD TEST REPORT August HONDA ACCORD VTi-L 2.3-Litre 4-Door Manual Sedan FEATURES BEST WORST Fuel economy Roomy cabin space Safety equipment level Engine power Seat shape & comfort Handling on loose surfaces Honda has sharpened its 2001 model Accord making it smoother, quieter and more refined by adding more equipment, extra safety features and upgrading its general aesthetics. The Honda Accord has been renowned for its finesse and refinement over many years. However, recent models have not quite reached their usual standard, particularly in the area of road and general operational noise. It is this area that Honda has sought to address in the 2001 model upgrade. From the exterior, the Accord has been given a more aggressive stance with a higher bonnet line, a new chrome grille and minor changes to the front bumper. Although minor cosmetic changes have been adopted at the rear, these are only visible when comparing directly with the previous model. The most obvious change visible from the outside is the adoption of alloy wheels on the base model VTi-L. Pricing for the Accord starts at $38,900 for the VTi-L manual, with an additional $2000 for the automatic version. The V6 is priced at $49,100 and the V6L tops the range at $52,900. Metallic paint and a rear spoiler are optional on all models for an additional $259 and $574 respectively, and a CD player can be added to the VTi-L models for $536. The standard equipment level on the base model has been raised, closing the gap between it and the upper level V6 variants. The list includes torque-sensitive power steering, ABS brakes, dual front airbags, air conditioning, cruise control, remote central locking, power windows, alloy wheel ...

Call Automotive Technical Services on 1300 655 443, should you require additional information on this vehicle, on other makes, or for general advice on automotive matters. ROAD TEST REPORT August HONDA S2000 Roadster 2.0 Litre Manual FEATURES BEST WORST Handling and braking Top end performance Standards of finish and hood operation Gearbox operation Hard ride Bottom end performance and over sensitive throttle action in test car Low clearance at front area Two and a half years after the introduction of its “no-compromise S2000 sports, Honda has given the car a cosmetic makeover and introduced some mechanical tweaks and minor equipment changes. Externally, the S2000 gets restyled front and rear bumpers, a polished finish on the five spoke alloy wheels, chrome taillight surrounds and a heated glass rear window in the hood in lieu of plastic. Inside, there’s now a metallic silver finish on several components, storage nets in the doors, and additional noise insulation in the gearbox tunnel. The 8-stack CD stereo system that was added in January 2001 now gets two tweeters located in the driver and passenger doors. Mechanical changes are limited to the suspension. Honda says the S2000’s suspension has been re-tuned for extra stability at high speed by reducing the front and rear sway bar diameters and increasing the front and rear spring rates. The damper settings have also been revised. The S2000 still comes in just the one manual- only model and it costs $74,990. That’s unchanged from the 2001 version, but the price has crept up by $5,000 since the S2000 was first released. The only options listed are a hardtop for $6,562 and metallic paint for $259. Though the S2000 is focussed on performance and handling, it doesn’t skimp on equipment. Standard items include dual airbags, air conditioning, electric windows and exterior mirrors, remote central locking with immobiliser, leather trim and the eight-stack CD player. When replacing a lost or stolen transmitter, you need to use the three ROM chips (provided with the new transmitter) to match the old transmitter with the new transmitter and the control unit. 1. Remove the rear cover from the old transmitter and the new one. 2. Remove the ROM chip from the old transmitter by sliding its socket holder toward the ROM chip. 3. Insert a new ROM chip into the socket holder, then slide the socket holder toward the socket to lock the chip in place. 4. Repeat step 3 to install a ROM chip into the new transmitter. 5. Reinstall the rear covers on the transmitters. 6. Remove the security system control unit from under the driver’s seat. 7. Open the access cover on the control unit, and replace the ROM chip. (Use the same procedure as in steps 2 and 3.) 8. Press the reset button next to the ROM chip. 9. Close the access cover, and reinstall the control unit. If you are replacing a damaged transmitter, don’t replace the ROM chips in the transmitters and the control unit; just remove the chip from the old transmitter and install it in the new one. Ordering a Transmitter Transmitters can be ordered only by authorized Honda dealers. Order them from American Honda using normal parts ordering procedures. If your customer wants to add a third transmitter to the system, you need to order a four ROM chip set directly from Alpine Electronics of America. The Alpine part number for the four ROM chip set is 8319. This ROM chip set does not come with a transmitter. Order the additional transmitter from American Honda. If you have questions about how to order a four ROM chip set, call Alpine’s parts department at (800) 421-2284, extension 8885. Batteries for the Transmitter The battery number is CR2025. Carefully jack the vehicle up off of the ground enough so that you can remove the wheels. After placing jack stands, remove the rear wheels. 2. Test fit the front lip. Take note of the areas where the lip will attach to the body. If there are any irregularities due to vehicle build variances make adjustments by whatever means necessary. See Figure A. 3. Clean the area where the 3M tape will contact the vehicle surface with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) to make sure that the surface is clean and free from dirt/wax to ensure best adhesion. Let the area dry thoroughly prior to installing. 4. Peel 2″ sections of the red tape liner back on all areas that have tape and fold over the part. Using a friend, install part utilizing the exposed 2″ sections of tape to allow you to line the GRIP part onto the stock fascia. See Figure B.

Performer X Turbocharging System for 1996-2000 Honda Civic D16Y8 Catalog #1500 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS….

This installation can be accomplished using common tools and procedures. However, one should have a basic knowledge of automotive repair and modification and be familiar with and comfortable working on this vehicle. If you do not feel comfortable working on a large project such as this, it is recommended to have the installation completed by a professional mechanic. Keeping a 1996-2000 Honda Civic Service Manual on hand for reference is helpful. REMEMBER: WHEN WORKING AROUND GASOLINE, DO NOT SMOKE, AND KEEP ALL OPEN FLAMES, SPARKS AND OTHER SOURCES OF IGNITION AWAY FROM THE WORK AREA. Failure to do so can result in a FIRE or EXPLOSION. Installing this turbocharger kit will substantially increase the power output of your engine. Before installing this kit, you should perform a compression test to ensure that your engine is in good condition. Consult a Factory Service Manual for the proper compression test procedure and acceptable in-service limits. The valve lash should be properly adjusted. If the valves are not properly seating, or the valve lash is not properly adjusted, the increased temperatures created by the increased power output could accelerate valve seat wear and cause burnt valves. If for any reason your engine has oil pressure that is below the acceptable service limits as specified in the Factory Service Manual, this problem should be corrected before installing this turbocharger kit. ( Note: Check kit contents on the following page before starting your installation)….

ROAD TEST REPORT August HONDA S2000 Roadster 2.0 Litre Manual FEATURES BEST WORST Handling and braking Top end performance Standards of finish and hood operation Gearbox operation Hard ride Bottom end performance and over sensitive throttle action in test car Low clearance at front area Two and a half years after the introduction of its “no-compromise” S2000 sports, Honda has given the car a cosmetic makeover and introduced some mechanical tweaks and minor equipment changes. Externally, the S2000 gets restyled front and rear bumpers, a polished finish on the five spoke alloy wheels, chrome taillight …..Standard items include dual airbags, air conditioning, electric windows and exterior mirrors, remote central locking with immobiliser, leather trim and the eight-stack CD player. The fast electric hood (just six seconds up or down) is now equipped with a glass back window which eliminates the potential problem of a plastic window discolouring, and it also provides demisting. As in many roadsters, there are large blind spots to each rear corner when the hood is erect. Accommodation in this latest version is unchanged, with plenty of legroom for the occupants and a pair of well shaped bucket seats that are both comfortable and supportive. Though Honda has added storage nets in the doors to complement the two storage bins between the seats, cabin space is still at a premium. The boot is short, but reasonably deep, so with some creative packing it’s possible to stow a reasonable amount of luggage.

In 1994, the Honda Accord was moved to a yet larger “CD” chassis, primarily to better suit the requirements of the North American market. It grew in width but oddly shrunk in length, leaving it classified as a mid-size car in North America. It thus became too wide to fit within the favorable tax bracket in Japan, where its role was to be partially taken over by the smaller second-generation Honda Ascot and Honda Rafaga.

DX, LX and EX remained the American trim lines while Canada retained the EX-R. The 5-speed manual remained mostly unchanged; the 4-speed automatic transmission, noted for its hard shifts, now included a “Grade-Logic” shift program. All Accord models received a more ergonomic interior with standard safety features such as dual airbags and reinforced side-impact beams. Exclusive to the EX was a VTEC version of the 2.2-liter 4-cylinder (making 145 hp (108 kW) instead of 130), antilock brakes (now an option for the LX), 15″ alloy wheels (instead of 14″ steel), 4-wheel disc brakes, and a rear stabilizer bar; leather was an EX option. The Accord was named Motor Trend Import Car of the Year. The Accord coupe looked almost exactly like the sedan; this was the last generation of Accord to offer a wagon variant in America…..

While the redesign retained the previous generations exterior dimensions, interior space was improved in part by using a flat rear floor thus bumping up Civic to a compact car size segment. The front suspension was changed from that of a double wishbone to a MacPherson strut, in order to lower costs, as well as allow more engine bay room for the newly introduced Honda K-series engine. Power was also increased on some trim levels. In North America, coupe and sedan bodystyles were available, except for the Si (SiR in Canada) which was offered only as a three-door hatchback. The rest of the world received three and five-door hatchbacks. The 1997 Honda Passport seems to not have the typical, and expected, Honda reliability. It’s been around for three years, and not all drivers are pleased, with some even saying the engine gives out at only 90K miles. The was a change in the Passport this year. The DX model is no longer available, but, the good news is that the 4-cylinder engine on all models has been upgraded to a 6-cylinder. Standard features in the ‘97 Honda Passport still include driver and passenger airbags in the front, and a new instrument panel. The Honda Passport still uses a body-on-base truck-like design, which is good since it makes for better suspension. The EX 4WD includes ABS, reclining front bucket seats, halogen headlamps, and child-safe rear doors…

The Honda Prelude was a sports coupe produced by Japanese automaker Honda from 1978 (the first generation Prelude was released November 24, 1978) until 2001. The first generation of prelude was powered with a 1751 cc SOHC CVCC I4 engine that produced 72 hp (54 kW) and 94 lb·ft (127 Nm) of torque with a five-speed manual transmission, and 68 hp (51 kW) with a two-speed automatic called the Hondamatic.

The following wiring diagram, electrical system schematics and circuit troubleshooting apply for Honda Prelude 1993 model years. The wiring diagrams and technical service bulletins, containing wiring diagram changes, are obtained from the domestic and import manufacturers.

These are checked for accuracy and are all redrawn into a consistent format for easy use. All diagrams are arranged with the front of the vehicle at the left side of the first page and the rear of the vehicle at the right side of the last page. Accessories are shown near the end of the diagram. Components are shown in their approximate location on the vehicle. Due to the constantly increasing number of components on vehicles today, it is impossible to show exact locations.

The Honda CR-V 2005

The best things change for a purpose. The CR-V is no exception. From outside, the CR-V’s silhouette is stronger than ever. Flush lines, distinctive side protection mouldings, rear arch protectors and 16” wheels all add to the CR-V’s charismatic look. Sit behind the wheel and you’ll see our changes have a purpose. The body lines improve aerodynamics. The front and rear arch protectors stop stray objects doing damage. And the larger wheels offer superior road-handling. So you can stick to your purpose. Whatever the terrain…

“The diesel CR-V stands head and shoulders above the
competition in the key area for corporate customers – running
costs and BIK liability. If the plan works, it will certainly make
the CR-V the UK’s best-selling 4×4.”…

Think of some of the world’s most innovative creations. The people who made them dared to challenge convention. At Honda, we let nothing get in the way of a good idea. We encourage our designers to test the boundaries of science as well as their own imaginations. That’s why our cars, motorcycles, ATV’s, powerboat engines and power equipment products are used the world over, consistently winning new awards, new accolades and new friends. But it doesn’t stop there. After witnessing an aerobatics display as a schoolboy our founder, Soichiro Honda, dreamed of creating an aeroplane. Eighty-seven years later our engineers are putting the finishing touches to the HondaJet. True to Honda’s belief in finding solutions through innovation and imagination, the jet challenges standard aircraft design. Its HF118 turbofan engines are located on the upper sides of the wings, part of a groundbreaking design that reduces drag at high speed and increases fuel efficiency by 40%. This break from conventional design also allows for 30% more cabin space. It goes to show what you can achieve by letting your imagination run free. On the ground our desire to innovate is as strong as it’s ever been. This applies as much to bicycles as it does to Formula 1 racing cars. On two wheels, we have recently perfected the RN01 downhill mountain bike, with its unique gearbox system that allows cyclists to change gear without the need to pedal. This revolutionary design was born out of an enthusiastic idea that was allowed to flourish, rather than a design requirement. On the track, our Formula 1 programme saw young British contender Jenson Button rise to the podium ten times in 2004, the Honda BAR Team achieving second place in the Constructor’s Championship, and the Honda engines proving credible and consistent rivalry to those of the dominant Ferrari team…
